After some discussion with ttuuxxx we have decided to continue the 476 branch…the 481 branch with the 2.6.29.6 kernel is a problem for a number of reasons. I will upload 481a, but work is suspended on it until the kernel issues are addressed.

md5 correct at aa8b2dbb2d76d4f3449b5fc5239cb0ec dpup-482beta3-2.6.30.5.iso . frugal install by mounting iso and copy to a directory.
grub boot with:
title dpup on SDcard
root (hd1,0)
kernel /dpup/vmlinuz phome=dpup psubdir=dpup pfix=fsck
initrd /dpup/initrd.gz
boots all the way to select keyboard and after selecting default american english get:
-sh: /usr/bin/xwin input/output error
-sh: /usr/bin/xwin success
#
boot stops.
selecting other languages also has the same result.
coping files from SDcard to a usb connected harddrive and grub booting
still gives the same result.
puppy421 boots from the SDcard and usb harddrive with the similar configuration
Puppy Linux is fantastic (small size, frugal install). The only thing that is stopping me (and many others) from using it at the moment is the lack of a hibernation feature.
Is there a quick fix, like using a Debian or Ubuntu utility like pm-hibernate?
Great work. Just needs a hibernate feature.
Can the main stable beta3 use pup_save.2fs files from Puppy 4.2.1?
If so, must they be renamed?
Have tried this with Puppy431, after following Barry’s instruction to rename the file “pupsave*.2fs”, but the system locked up with an EXT2-fs error followed by Kernel panic. When loaded with “pfix=RAM”, Puppy 431 loads and runs normally…
otropogo, the quick answer is no, Dpup was not designed to handle non dpup save files…at some point, I may do some work on a conversion script, but not until beta testing is finished and dpup structure is set in stone….
dpup-482beta5-2 doesnt have the problem detailed above with dpup-482beta3-2.6.30.5.iso
thank you.
it boots with the same installation and grub configuration as above.
posted on wifi with dpup beta5.
